«Seeing it is God, that said, Light shall shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ» (2 Cor. 4:6).

"In the face of Jesus Christ"! In that phrase I see everything that relates to God's eternal purpose and to the Divine intention, both as to man and the universe. It embraces the counsels of the Godhead before the world was - it embraces the creation; it embraces redemption; it embraces the final glory. All that is in the face of Jesus Christ. Indeed, there is nothing which concerns us, as creatures related to God and eternity, which is not to be found in the face of Jesus Christ. God comes to us in the face of Jesus Christ, and all that ever we shall or can know of God is to be found in the face of Jesus Christ. The face is the human medium of communication. The face is the medium of personality. The personality is the character formed in secret, the sum of all secret history, and it embraces itself in the face. Sooner or later, somehow, the personality will betray itself in the face. But in order to read the personality through the face, there has to be a certain amount of qualification. You cannot off hand read a person through their face. You need to have certain ability to do so. If all that is of God is in the face of Jesus Christ, there has to be given revelation in our hearts, as well as in His face. We have to be able to see the face of Jesus Christ.

« il Dio che disse: ‘Splenda la luce fra le tenebre', è quello che risplendé nei nostri cuori per far brillare la luce della conoscenza della gloria di Dio che rifulge nel volto di Gesù Cristo» (2 Cor. 4:6).

″«Nel volto di Gesù Cristo»! In quell'espressione ci vedo tutto ciò che è connesso al programma eterno e all'intenzione di Dio, sia nei confronti dell'uomo che verso l'universo. Essa racchiude i decreti concepiti in seno alla Deità prima che il mondo fosse, ci parla quindi della creazione. Racchiude la redenzione, la gloria finale. Tutto questo è nel volto di Gesù Cristo. In verità, non c'è nulla che abbia un qualche legame con gli uomini, in quanto creature che hanno un rapporto con Dio e con l'eternità, che non abbia a trovarsi nel volto di Gesù Cristo. Dio viene a noi nel volto di Gesù Cristo e tutto quanto conosceremo o potremo mai sapere di Dio si trova nel volto di Gesù Cristo. Il volto è il veicolo con cui l'uomo comunica con gli altri. È anche lo strumento a mezzo del quale si intuisce la personalità di un individuo. Ora, la personalità è il carattere formatosi nel segreto, la somma di tutta la storia intima di un uomo, che viene appunto racchiusa nel volto. Presto o tardi, in un modo o nell'altro, il volto rivela la vera indole di un uomo. Ma per poterla discernere dal volto, è necessaria una certa dose di abilità. Non si può all'impronta leggere una persona in volto. Bisogna essere dotati di una determinata bravura per farlo. Se tutto ciò che è da Dio è nel volto di Gesù Cristo, ce ne deve esser data la rivelazione nei nostri cuori, così come nel Suo volto.  Noi dobbiamo poter vedere il volto di Gesù Cristo″.
