"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."

″In the moment of the deepest abasement of Christ's Human Nature, the Divine bursts forth most brightly. During the contest between the Kingdom of God and that of darkness, between the Christ and Satan,  Jesus remembers Divine mercy, and prays for them who crucify Him; and thus does the Conquered truly conquer. The first and the last of His utterances begin with 'Father.' Not only martyrs have learned from Him to pray as He did, but everyone can rise to faith and fellowship with God as "the Father," and can feel the unshaken confidence, if not the unbroken joy, of absolute trust″.

«Padre, perdona loro, perché non sanno quello che fanno».

″Nel momento in cui la natura umana di Cristo sopporta la più profonda umiliazione, quella divina brilla in maniera ancora più sfolgorante. Nella battaglia tra il Regno di Dio e quello delle tenebre, tra Cristo e Satana, Gesù celebra la misericordia divina e prega per quelli che lo stanno crocifiggendo. E perciò il Vinto, in realtà, è il Vincitore. La prima e l'ultima delle frasi da Lui proferite sulla croce cominciano con la parola "Padre". Non soltanto i martiri hanno imparato a  pregare come pregò Lui, ma anche tutti quelli  che possono rivolgersi, mediante la fede e la comunione, a Dio come al loro "Padre", e possono sentire la fede incrollabile, unita alla gioia ininterrotta, che vengono dalla fiducia illimitata".
