"Draw me; we will run after you! Let the king bring me into his chambers." Song of Solomon 1:4

How many of us can take the words of the bride into our lips, or have ever been able at any time of our life to use such an expression? We must have had some sight and sense of the preciousness and loveliness of Jesus before even we can cry «Draw me!», form the depth of a sincere heart. For the sincere soul is afraid to approach the holy Jehovah, whose eyes are as a flame of fire, and insult him with mock petitions and words that it not feels. But if ever that desire has been kindled , and that prayer raised up in your soul, «Draw me! We will run after Thee», it must have been the work of the Holy Ghost in your hearts, to give you a living faith in the Son of God.  And «he that believeth shall be saved». He that has had given him one grain of spiritual faith in Christ's glorious person, who has had one sight of His atoning blood, one sip of divine love shed abroad in his heart, is sure to go to glory; he is saved with an everlasting salvation, in his covenant Head. The Lord that has kindled these strong desires after himself in his soul, will surely fulfill them. As we find he did in the case of the bride; he said to her, after a little time, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds has come, and the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away."

« Attirami a te! Noi ti correremo dietro!». Cantico dei Cantici 1:4

Quanti di noi hanno avuto queste parole sulle proprie labbra o hanno mai proferito, in qualche periodo della propria vita, tali espressioni? Ah, occorre aver visto e sentito qualcosa della preziosità e della bellezza di Cristo, prima che dal profondo di un cuore sincero esca il grido ″Attirami a Te″.  Un'anima onesta è in trepidazione quando si avvicina a Jahwè il Santo, i cui occhi sono come fiamme di fuoco, e teme di offenderlo con richieste finte e con parole che non sente veramente. Ma se questo desiderio venisse acceso e nella vostra anima sorgesse la preghiera, ″Attirami, noi ti correremo dietro″, sarà stata l'azione dello Spirito Santo nei vostri cuori a suscitare simili sentimenti e a darvi una fede viva nel Figliuolo di Dio. E in quel caso, ″chiunque crede sarà salvato″. Qualunque sia il dubbio, qualunque sia il timore, qualunque sia la tentazione, qualunque sia l'ostacolo che impedisce il vostro cammino, ″chiunque crede sarà salvato″. Colui a cui è stato dato un granello di fede spirituale nella gloriosa persona di Gesù Cristo, che ha ricevuto la visione del Suo sangue espiatore e che ha avuto una goccia di quell'amore sparso nel proprio cuore, andrà certamente dritto verso la gloria. Nel suo Capo e Autore della Fede, egli sarà salvato di eterna salvezza. Il Signore che ha prodotto nella sua anima quei forti desideri nei confronti di Sé stesso, li porterà certamente a compimento. Proprio come fece con la Sposa: dopo un po' di tempo, le disse: «Alzati, amica mia, mia bella, e vieni, poiché, ecco, l'inverno è passato, il tempo delle piogge è finito, se n'è andato;i fiori spuntano sulla terra, il tempo del canto è giunto, e la voce della tortora si fa udire nella nostra campagna. Il fico ha messo i suoi frutti, le viti fiorite esalano il loro profumo. Alzati, amica mia, mia bella, e vieni».
